Editorial Policy

WindowPlant Lab exists to make plant placement easier. We publish a page when it answers a real question and gives the reader something useful to do—a clear process, a comparison, a checklist, or an interactive tool.

How we develop advice

We separate broadly accepted plant-care principles from practical rules of thumb. When a claim needs outside support, we look for dependable horticultural or scientific sources. When conditions vary too much for a precise answer, we explain the variables instead of presenting a guess as a guarantee.

• We do not invent tests, credentials, quotations, statistics, reviews, or personal experiences.
• We describe estimates as estimates and make important limitations visible near the advice.
• We prefer useful explanations over rigid claims such as “this plant will thrive anywhere.”
• Diagrams and tools are created for the site; third-party material is used only with appropriate permission.

What our tools can—and cannot—do

Window direction and distance are helpful clues, but they cannot capture every room. Seasonal sun angles, neighboring buildings, trees, curtains, tinted glass, and local weather can all change the result. Our tools offer a starting point. The plant’s new growth and the conditions you observe remain the best final check.

Updates and corrections

We revisit pages when guidance can be clearer, a tool can be more useful, or new evidence changes the answer. Corrections are made directly rather than hidden behind cosmetic edits. Reader feedback may highlight missing situations, but popularity alone does not determine what we say.

Independence

Recommendations are based on usefulness to the reader. If the site later introduces advertising, affiliate links, sponsorships, or other commercial relationships, they will be clearly disclosed on the relevant page.
